Berger showed up at the polls for his “man of the people “ photo op wearing a brand new barn coat and matching hat. Might as well as left the price tags still hanging down. Not a smart move in a campaign where he was criticized for being out of touch with his constituents.

I worked as an election official in a downtown Durham precinct (20) yesterday. Many of the younger and well educated voters brought their children. That was pleasing. As someone who for 8 years covered government and politics including campaign appearances in Tennessee during 1980 by First Bush, Carter and Regan as well as Al Gore and the late Howard Baker, it was good to see Value Foushee eke out an apparent victory. Otherwise we would be sick of Republican campaign ads showing Nelda Allan’s face in attack ads against Roy Cooper
